I remember the day my leg gave out. The day before, I was 19, in the best shape of my life. I was co-captain of the women’s volleyball team at USC. I was young and thriving. I was living my dream. The next day. Gone. My left leg was numb and dead. I couldn’t stand up straight. I could hardly see. My whole life was ripped away from me and I was helpless.
13 years of Western Medicine, failed protocols, lack of knowledge and an inability to get to the root issues of my dis-ease left me more scared and in pain than ever before.
I spent countless months over this time in bed, unable to work, so depressed, in pain, and I had a lack of desire to live. I never thought I would escape this total hell hole.
Then when I found Functional medicine, Ayurveda and spiritual development, my whole world changed. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel because I was getting to the root of the problem. I have healed because I have combined modern healing with ancient wisdom. I have blended concepts from 6000 years ago in India with modern science that gives us the ability to measure levels of everything happening within our organs. I have gotten to the root of my emotional pain and trauma which has been triggering my pain, fatigue, depression and anxiety.
I workout regularly. I eat the foods I love again. I can be social. I can have relationships. I have clear boundaries. I can sleep and wake up rested. I can go out and not want to die the next day. I live the life I was dreaming about when I was in bed, wanting to crawl into a hole.
What Western Medicine is missing is the willingness and ability to go deeper. They work with texts from 30 years ago and just to get simple tests run can be nearly impossible. Not to mention, it’s incredibly rare for conventional doctors to ever use food as medicine. Hint: they get less than ONE HOUR of nutrition training during all of medical school. Seriously.
